Making a Splash: White Water Rafting and Surfing Hotspots
For those who love water sports, white water rafting and surfing provide an unbeatable adrenaline rush. In the UK, the River Tay in Scotland and the River Wye in Wales offer exciting white water rafting experiences.
Alternatively, in the UK, surfers can catch some of the best waves at Fistral Beach in Cornwall or Croyde Bay in Devon. For those looking to travel further afield, Bali, Indonesia offers some of the best surf spots in the world. The island of Maui in Hawaii is also a top destination for surfers, with its year-round warm waters and consistent waves.
Both Bali and Maui are very famous and touristy destinations. But if you want something less popular and different, take a look at these places:
Siargao Island, Philippines. This is one of the “capitals of surf” in Southeast Asia. Although the island was devastated in 2021 by the Odette typhoon, now it is recovering, and tourists are welcome again.
Nazare, Portugal. This is the place with the highest waves in Europe. It is mostly for professionals, so, be well prepared!
Teahupo’o, Tahiti, French Polynesia. Here the waves are different due to the specific bottom. They rise suddenly from the depth and break like explosions. The experience is worth trying.

Explore the ends of the Earth by expedition
Do you want to feel like one of the great explorers in the past? Yes, almost everything on our planet is already discovered, but have you discovered it personally? Think about it, it could be a life-changing experience! And it is more than just “tourism”.
Crossing a rainforest, a desert, or reaching some of the most isolated islands on the Earth? Yes, it is very challenging and sometimes very expensive. Also, it would require long preparation and training. But it is still possible. Even if you can’t cross a whole continent or region, you can at least penetrate deeply into the most challenging places to travel on Earth.
Among the ideas are crossing the Amazon Rainforest, or crossing the island of Papua. Do you want to taste the Sahara Desert? The easiest way is to join a tour in Morocco or Egypt, but how about penetrating much deeper, in countries like Algeria, Niger, and Chad?
Or, let’s think about the coldest areas on the Earth. How about the Pole of Cold in the Northern Hemisphere- Oymyakon in Yakutia, Russia? Today, there are a lot of tours to Antarctica, but they reach only the coastal areas of the icy continent, mainly on the Antarctic Peninsula. But have you thought about whether is possible to penetrate deeper into the Antarctic ice cap?
In this article, we covered various activities like surfing, diving, hiking, climbing, skiing, and finally- joining expedition tours. All of them can give you a lot of adrenaline but don’t forget, they are not just sports but amazing ways to experience the nature of the Earth. So, open yourself to geography, unleash the inner adventurer and explorer in you, and go!

And we wish you a happy journey, not just virtually, but most of all- in reality.
