Osh is the largest city in the southern part of Kyrgyzstan and an important starting point for traveling around the Ferghana Valley and on the Pamir Highway. But before you leave it for an adventure, or after an adventure, it is highly recommended to explore the city, because it has a lot to see, do, and taste. So, it is very likely that you would like to spend a longer time here- at least a night or two. The question is: where to stay in Osh, and what are the best hotels there?

Where to stay in Osh: Useful tips
Osh is the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan, but most of its places to see are located in the center. At the same time, you must consider some important spots and their location- Osh Airport, Osh Avtovokzal, the border to Uzbekistan, and more. These spots are located mostly in the suburbs.
So, you have to consider not only the price and the comfort of the property to stay in but also its location, which is important. It depends on what is your itinerary.
Concerning the price and quality, Osh is not different than most of the cities in Central Asia. In general, the hotels in Osh are cheap. With only a few exceptions, even the prices of the luxurious hotels are mostly under 100$ per night.
You can easily find a hotel on Booking or Agoda. But let’s first focus on the location, and choose the best places to stay in each main area of Osh.
Exploring the Earth is fantastic! However, there are various hidden dangers that may ruin your journeys. Don’t allow that to happen, or at least reduce the consequences as much as possible!

Osh areas
Let’s divide Osh into two main location areas, depending on your purpose of staying in the city.
The center of the city
This is the most popular area in Osh. Most of the tourist attractions are here. In this area, you can see and feel the best of the city, in its full glory- Mount Sulayman-Too, all the museums, many monuments, as well as the most bustling areas of Osh- Jayma Market and Alisher Navoy Park.
You are also not far from the main spots of the local and foreign cuisine, nightlife, markets, and traditional lifestyle. So, if this is your main focus in exploring Osh and if you are not urgent about grabbing an early schedule for flights and most places around the Ferghana Valley or other direction, it is better to stay in the center of the city.
Actually, if you have to go to Sary-Tash and Lenin Peak, it is also convenient because the starting point of the marshrutka and the shared taxis to the Pamir Highway is here too.
Let’s take a look at some good options to stay. The hotels can be divided into budget, middle-range, and luxurious. Budget hotels are somewhere between 10 and 30 USD, middle-range- from 30 to 60 USD, and luxurious- more than 60 USD.
Budget hotels and hostels
ABS Guest House Osh
Location: On the southern side of the center
Rate: Fabulous- 8.6
Highlights: One of the best and most popular hostels for adventure travelers in Osh
Details:
This is one of the coziest hostels in the whole of southern Kyrgyzstan. Today it is a popular place for adventure travelers- hitchhikers, cyclists, motorcycle travelers, or travelers with 4×4 vehicles. They come here, sometimes with their vehicles, dive into the local culture (and you can feel this culture in the hostel), and share each other’s adventures.
ABS Guesthouse Osh offers 8-bed dormitory rooms (the cheapest option), rooms with two bunk beds (for 4 persons), and normal hotel double rooms. There is a room service, laundry, and airport shuttle. Guests love the nice garden outside. Everything is very clean.
Although the hostel is close to the center, its location is relatively calm and the environment is relaxing. There is about 20 min walk to Alisher Navoy Park and about 30 min to the gate of Sulayman-Too, but of course, you can always use a taxi.
Cons: A bit far, still requires some walk.

Lovely Home
Location: On the southeastern side of the center
Rate: Fabulous- 8.9
Highlights: One of the cheapest guesthouses in Osh
Details:
This is a cozy guesthouse. While ABS Guesthouse is more like a hostel in white color style, Lovely Home is more traditional. It is made like a local home, with richly ornamented Persian carpets, and a nice garden outside.
For hostel lovers, Lovely Home offers mixed dormitory rooms with two bunk beds and an additional single bed. For those who prefer more privacy, there are triple rooms, deluxe family rooms, and a quadruple family room (these are more expensive and belong to the “middle range”).
In addition, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, and the guesthouse owners offer breakfast. The owners offer another “Lovely Home” guesthouse in another location, very close to this one, with the same features, however, it is their home while in this “Lovely Home” you are alone.
Cons: The surrounding area is a bit remote.

Middle-range hotels
Ocean Hotel
Location: On the southern side of the center, close to Suyumbaev Stadium
Rate: Fabulous- 8.8
Highlights: New and clean small hotel
Details:
This is a nice hotel, only a few years old. So, everything is clean and “smells” of a new. It can be found in a nice location, good for walking around. And although it is not exactly “in the center of the center”, it is still a good choice for travelers looking for affordable luxury.
Ocean Hotel is a 3-star hotel. It offers deluxe double rooms, double rooms with mountain views, and deluxe twin rooms. There is a breakfast in the morning, and room service. In addition, the hotel offers airport shuttle.
There is a 24/7 store next to the hotel, it is also very close to the Regional Theater and some good cafes.
Cons: There are still some small issues of imperfectness like not enough professionalism of the staff or not enough noise insulation.

City Park Apartments
Location: In the southern end of the center, next to Toktogul Park
Rate: Superb- 9.4
Highlights: A good luxurious property in a new tall building
Details:
This is not a typical hotel but as its name suggests, it is a complex of apartments. They are located in a new tall building with excellent views of the city, the park below, and the silhouette of Mt Sulayman-Too. It is luxurious, with a very cheap price for its luxury.
City Park Apartments offers whole apartments with views and balconies. Here the idea is to live alone in “your own home”. The apartments have two single beds, a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room with a comfortable coach and TV.
So, don’t expect a lobby, a restaurant, or a room service! Here you come to live alone, fully independent. Probably this is not the style of every traveler but for those who like it, it is perfect.
Cons: It is a new property, and some features are still improving.

Level Hotel
Location: In the western part of the center, very close to the Sulayman-Too southwestern gate
Rate: Superb 9.1
Highlights: Nice hotel with good facilities
Details:
This is a 3-star hotel. It is small, outside its building doesn’t look so good but its interior is very cozy with some level of luxury. It is an excellent starting point for exploring the neighboring Mount Sulayman-Too- probably in the best location of all listed properties here.
Level Hotel has standard single rooms, double or twin rooms, and king studios with two single beds and a sofa bed. In addition, it has a nice bar, a garden, and a shared lounge. There is even a children’s playground. The hotel offers breakfast and room service.
Probably the main problem is that the hotel is a bit far from the most central part of Osh- if it was next to the other gate of Mount Sulayman-Too, it would be perfect, but even now it is still ok. There is another nice park nearby, with a good restaurant.
Cons: There are still some small issues like insufficient noise insulation and cold in winter.

The Oldman House
Location: On the southern side of the center, close to Suyumbaev Stadium
Rate: Exceptional 9.9
Highlights: A great art masterpiece of accommodation
Details:
It is one of the coziest properties in the whole of southern Kyrgyzstan. Everything is made in style, like a rich family’s villa where every detail is made with a high taste of design. Its location is good too, in the same area as Ocean Hotel mentioned above.
The Oldman House offers double or twin rooms- budget and deluxe, as well as king suites. There is also a nice garden and a shared lounge, full of art. The owners offer delicious breakfast at much higher level of culinary quality compared to many other properties.
Finally, this is probably the best place to stay for adventurous travelers who are ready to pay a little more money (at least as a reward after an exciting trip on the Pamir Highway, for example)- the value of it is well worth it!
Cons: Almost perfect. Just a bit far from the ideal center.

Luxurious hotels
Cube House
Location: At the eastern bank of the Ak-Buura River
Rate: Very good 8.2
Highlights: A good luxurious hotel in a unique architectural shape
Details:
The most luxurious hotels in the center of Osh are still below the luxury of the world-level 5-star hotels. And of the few ones, Cube House has the highest rate. It is a small hotel in a modernist architectural shape and boutique vibe.
Cube House Hotel offers deluxe double rooms, three types of twin rooms, single rooms, and deluxe king rooms (the most expensive). It has a restaurant, room service, and a bar, with included breakfast.
In addition, this hotel offers various travel services- from airport shuttle transport to various activities, including bike rental. It is at a convenient distance to the Old Avtovokzal, the starting point for the marshrutkas on the Pamir Highway.
Cons: Sometimes, there are some issues like too much noise, restaurant or bar closure, or low-quality air conditioning.

The suburbs of the city
This is the area away from the center. There is almost nothing interesting here, it is also not so convenient if you want to explore the city. So, what would be the reason to choose a place to stay there?
The northern suburbs of Osh can be convenient because there is the New Osh Avtovokzal- the bus (marshrutka) terminal for traveling around the Ferghana Valley and some other directions (but not to Pamir Highway).
Here is the border with Uzbekistan where you can go even on foot and get transport to the interior of the country. Finally, here is Osh Airport and it can be convenient if you want to fly to Bishkek or other city.
But what about the western, southern, or eastern suburbs? In general, the only reason to stay there would be the accommodation property itself. There are some good hotels in these areas that you may consider better than any other hotel in the center.
Budget hotels and hostels
Altan Hostel Osh
Location: South of the center
Rate: Very good 8.0
Highlights: A cozy place to stay in a local (non-touristy) environment
Details:
This is a cheap property, a hostel and a guesthouse combined. Although it is far from any tourist points of interest, the environment around it is calm, very “local”, and far from the crowds. In other words, it can be a good option for those who just want to relax in isolation.
Altan Hostel Osh offers two types of rooms. The “hostel” room is a quadruple room with 4 beds, and the “guesthouse” one is a twin room. There is a nice garden, a shared lounge, and a shared kitchen with a dining area. The hostel offers breakfast, and there is a minimarket inside it (something unique for such properties in Osh).
Finally, Altan Hostel offers airport shuttle- the owners know that their property is too far from the airport.
Cons: The owners live there, between the guest’s rooms, and sometimes their work early morning can be disturbing.

Sunny Hostel
Location: At the northern edge of Osh Proper, not far from the airport and the border with Uzbekistan
Rate: Very good- 8.3
Highlights: A new modern hub for travelers to or from Uzbekistan or other countries

This is a nice, clean, and cozy property with modern design. Although it is far from the center of Osh, its location is very strategic- only 12 min by car to the airport, and 12 min to Dostuk checkpoint at the border with Uzbekistan.
Sunny Hostel offers bunk beds in mixed dormitory rooms, and in another dormitory room only for women. The bunk beds are hidden behind curtains. There are also twin and triple rooms. In addition, there is a nice garden outside and a kitchen with a dining area inside.
The hostel offers breakfast every morning and a paid shuttle service to the airport.
Cons: Some guests mention the lack of professionalism of the staff.

Middle-range hotel
Ethno Boutique Hotel
Location: In the deep south of Osh
Rate: Fabulous- 8.6
Highlights: A modern art hotel with an ethnic vibe
Details:
This is one of the most comfortable properties in the whole of southern Kyrgyzstan. Although its location is not strategic, its coziness greatly compensates it. Besides, the environment around the hotel is calm and relaxing too, far from the city noise.
Ethno Boutique Hotel offers single, twin, triple, and deluxe twin or double rooms. In addition, there is a nice yard with a yurt. Tents are also available for those who want to feel more adventurous. There is also a bar, and a kitchen with dining area. The hotel offers breakfast.
For those who travel by plane, there is an airport shuttle service. But if you have to leave Osh by air, better plan at least an hour traveling by the shuttle- the hotel is very far from the airport.
Cons: Small occasional issues like (sometimes) not good breakfast, problems with air conditioning, etc.

Luxurious hotel
Jannat Resort Osh
Location: In the western suburbs of Osh
Rate: Very good – 8.2
Highlights: The most luxurious accommodation in Osh
Details:
This is the only accommodation that unofficially can be ranked as a 5-star hotel. As its name snows, it is a resort. Here the location is not so important- if you are ready to spend more money for full relaxation, you can enjoy a time in this resort.
Jannat Resort offers standard and deluxe single, double or twin rooms, and suites. As a 5-star accommodation, it has various facilities- two swimming pools, a spa and wellness center, a fitness center, two restaurants, and a bar. Everything is surrounded by a nice garden. You can enjoy such extras like hammam, hot spring tube, and sauna.
In other words, this resort is like a palace. It is a favorite place for weddings.
Cons: Although it is a 5-star hotel, sometimes the staff doesn’t cover the standard requirements.

In general, that’s the best of the properties in Osh. Of course, there are many other options, some of them also very good, others- not so good for its price. Some properties are brand new and still not verified with customer reviews. And there are also some fake properties or scams that you’d better avoid.
